Founder & Music Director
Nicholas Pothier is a music director, pianist, coach, and teacher currently based in central Illinois. Notable credits as music director, performer, and répétiteur include companies such as Lyric Theatre at Illinois, Opera Saratoga, Opera Neo, Opera Breve, Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Anselmian Abbey Players, South Shore School of Theatre, Prescott Park Arts Festival, Opera on Tap and Russian Opera Workshop. Nicholas’ repertoire extends to American musical theatre, operetta, art song, solo music, and sacred music.
Current projects include an upcoming performance of Barber’s A Hand of Bridge, directed by baritone Nathan Gunn.
His favorite opera and theatrical credits include: The Turn of the Screw, Così Fan Tutte, Hansel and Gretel, L’Enfant et les Sortilèges,The Queen of Spades, The Mikado, Pippin, West Side Story, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Kiss Me Kate, and Chicago.
Nicholas has served on the faculties of Peabody Institute Preparatory, Plymouth State University, Saint Anselm College, and The International School of Music (MD). As an active freelancer, he has been seen in collaboration with symphony orchestras including a collaboration with soprano Christine Brewer, pit orchestras, and as a choral accompanist.
Nicholas is a candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Coaching and Accompanying from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and the University of New Hampshire.
In his free time, Nicholas enjoys baking, yoga, and spending time with his fiancé Tim, and their dog, Gabe.
